History and General Description
Construction for the Global Vipassana Pagoda began in the year 2000 and was done by 2008, meaning it took eight years to complete. Even though it was done by 2008, it was officially open to the public on February 8, 2009. This structure is about 97.46 meters high covering more than 36,000,000 meters!
Who Built It and Why?
This wonderful structure was built by many architects and designers, including engineers: Ar. Prvez Dumasia, N.R. Varma, Chandubhai Sompura, and Aurangabad M.S. This structure was built to serve as a place of peace and harmony to the people of India. It was also built to honor the Buddha, his teachings, and all the monks who practice his teachings.

- The structure can seat over 8000 people.
- It is the largest stone dome built without any supporting pillars.
Connection
One famous person or god that is associated with this structure would be Buddha because this dome was dedicated to him and built for him.
